CAMPINAS, Brazil – Aviagen®; is dedicated to advancing poultry production in Mexico, actively supporting local producers by sharing expertise that strengthens their ability to feed their communities.
One such opportunity arose during the recent gathering of nearly 300 poultry professionals at the Aveca-G conference, hosted by the Association of Poultry Science Specialists of Guadalajara, Mexico. The event took place Sept. 25-28 in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, and welcomed several Aviagen Ross® Parent Stock customers.
At the event, Javier Alvarado, Aviagen's Technical Services Manager for Mexico, led an informative session on best practices for incubation and hatchery management, focusing on improving chick quality, sustainability, and welfare. His presentation covered critical factors such as egg temperature, early embryonic care, and the innovative Short Periods of Incubation During Egg Storage (SPIDES) method. Developed by Aviagen, SPIDES involves warming eggs to between 32 and 38°C during storage to enhance hatchability and chick vitality, even when eggs are stored for extended periods. Alvarado also offered practical recommendations for optimal temperature and humidity settings in hatcheries to ensure successful outcomes.
“Aviagen is committed to 'Breeding Success Together' by working closely with associations like Aveca-G to foster continuous innovation and improvement across Mexico and Latin America," said Rodrigo Cisoto, Head of Technical Services for Aviagen in Central America, Mexico, and the Caribbean (CAME). "By collaborating, we can advance animal welfare, sustainability, and productivity, ensuring the poultry industry meets the growing demand for affordable, high-quality protein in local communities."
