HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — Aviagen® proudly celebrates another successful summer internship program in the US, thanks to the enthusiasm and talent of the 15 students from universities in the US and Europe. These students came from institutions with strong agricultural programs. They studied diverse fields that included not only traditional areas involving direct interaction with poultry, but also other critical sectors like agri-business and agri-communications.
The students began their learning journey on May 20, gaining valuable insight into Aviagen’s various poultry breeding operations. Over the 10-week program, they explored production, veterinary services, quality assurance, hatchery management, research and development, diagnostics, business analysis, production planning and egg depot operations. Working alongside poultry specialists at Aviagen breeding facilities across the US, the interns experienced firsthand how teams collaborate internally and with external experts to "Breed Success Together."
The program concluded on July 26, coinciding with National Intern Day on July 25. During the closing event, participants shared their experiences and presented their project learnings, celebrating their accomplishments and personal growth.
Reflecting on the program, Aviagen North America President Marc de Beer stated, "Aviagen is committed to equipping the next generation with the skills and knowledge necessary for a successful career in poultry breeding and production. To breed the best, we need the best, and we are dedicated to fostering a drive for excellence. We are proud of this year's interns, who have shown remarkable initiative and passion for contributing to the global food supply."
